Overall: Love the compactness of this wallet with the RFID blocking layer to protect my cards with chips.
Olive Gray Leather: I believe the Tan color that I really wanted was out of stock for this model at the time and so I resolved to get the Olive Gray instead. Some months later, I noticed the color had been rubbing off on the inside of my small envelope purse that has a white synthetic fabric interior lining. I don't keep anything else in my purse that would have the same color rubbing off. In case it's helpful for others for context: I live in a region where during the summer it's hot and humid. But my wallet or the inside of the purse (or it's patent leather exterior) have never been exposed directly to water before. I reached out to Andar Customer Service to see how I could limit the color bleeding further into my purse's interior with the pictures I emailed as proof. The rep was swift in her reply stating full grain leather will stain if wet, but she didn't think it would stain on its own from contact. She offered to send me a new Scout wallet of the two suggested color/material alternatives that don't have colors that bleed: Blush (baby pink) or the Cork non-leather material. I chose the Cork because after doing some quick research online it would better resist damage from humid environments due to its natural water resistant properties. I didn't want the Blush mainly because I was concerned about external colors rubbing off on it and stain the wallet (e.g. color from dark wash jeans pockets ) and the color didn't fit my personal aesthetics. The rep assured me even though the Cork was not actually leather but just cork material and despite my experience with it not being a durable material, she said she "personally tested the Ranger [wallet] in Cork, Dark brown and Black in water before and the results were amazing! The cork Ranger not only dried faster but there was little to no color pay off in comparison to the other two." The helpful Andar rep processed the order and I just had to pay the $4.99 shipping. I was really appreciative of this swift, unexpected customer service!!
Cork non-leather material: Thankfully I no longer have any issues of color transfer between the wallet and my purse's interior. However, upon arrival I did notice there were several areas on the wallet that had gaps/holes just in the thin layer of Cork that was adhered on top of a similar Cork-colored material that was not made of Cork. Also, some of the card slots edges, the cork was already peeling when it arrived. My concern with these gaps is that they may begin to rip the cork layer further over time. Nice, compact wallet otherwise but time will tell how well that cork layer will hold up and truly compare to a full grain leather's durability.
I usually don't write reviews. However, my intent with this review is for others who may also be concerned or have questions about color transfer in hot/humid environments and/or how the cork looks, feels, and it's potential durability.
Again, I love my Andar Scout wallet and how much it can hold, sparing my shoulders from carrying unnecessary dead weight in my purses! I've never had to worry about color transfer issues on other full grain leather products I've had in the past from other companies.
Hey Ogonna, thank you so much for your thorough review and feedback! Please keep us posted if the cork material continues to peel via email. We're happy that the cork is a better fit for you, please let us know how we can help you again in the future:)
